Laundry detergent sheets, explained
The Sunday Club makes eco-friendly laundry detergent sheets. Each box holds 60 pre-measured sheets in one scent, Fresh Linen. A sheet is a thin, semi-rigid strip of concentrated detergent. You put one straight into the drum with your washing, and it dissolves during the cycle. There is no measuring, no cap to rinse and no plastic jug to store.
We are a small UK brand, run by Sunday Enterprise Ltd in Peterborough. We sell one product properly rather than a shelf of things badly.
What a laundry detergent sheet actually is
A detergent sheet is laundry detergent with the water taken out.
Liquid detergent is mostly water. A sheet is the same cleaning chemistry pressed into a dry strip, so what you are buying is the part that does the work. Ours are built on plant-based cleaning agents: coconut and sugar-derived surfactants, with a citrate softener. The full ingredient list is printed on every box.
The sheets are semi-rigid rather than floppy, roughly the size of a postcard. They are designed to be used whole. Do not tear one in half to save money. A half sheet is a half dose, and an under-dosed wash is the most common reason any detergent underperforms.
How to use laundry sheets
- Put one sheet into the empty drum first.
- Load your washing on top of it.
- Run your normal cycle.
That is the whole method. The sheet goes in the drum, never in the detergent drawer, because the drawer needs flowing water to clear a solid.
One sheet does a regular load. Use two for a large load, a heavily soiled load, or a very hard water area. They work in front loaders and top loaders, and in cold, warm and hot cycles.
Why we made a sheet instead of a bottle
Three honest reasons.
Plastic
A five-litre detergent jug is a large piece of plastic that gets used once. Our sheets come in a recyclable card box with no plastic jug, no measuring cap and nothing to rinse out before recycling.
Weight
Liquid detergent is largely water, and water is heavy. Shipping concentrated sheets means moving far less weight for the same number of washes.
Dosing
Nobody measures liquid detergent accurately. Most people over-pour. A pre-measured sheet is the right dose every time, which is better for your machine, your clothes and your money.
Who laundry sheets suit
Laundry sheets suit you if you want less plastic in the house, if you are short on storage, if you are tired of sticky caps and drips down the side of the bottle, or if you want the dose decided for you.
They are gentle on skin and kind to fabrics. If anyone in your household has a known skin condition or fragrance sensitivity, read the ingredient list on the box first or speak to your GP.
Where we are honest about the downsides
No product is right for everyone, and pretending otherwise is how brands lose trust.
- Sheets cost more per wash than the cheapest supermarket own-brand liquid. If price per wash is your only measure, a value liquid will win.
- Very hard water areas may need two sheets rather than one, which changes the per-wash maths.
- There is no scent range yet. We make Fresh Linen and nothing else. More scents are coming, but today it is one scent or nothing.
- A sheet is not a stain remover. Set-in stains still need pre-treating, exactly as they would with liquid or a pod.

The name is the whole idea. Sunday is the day the house gets put back together, and laundry is the least loved part of it. We wanted the detergent to be the nice bit.
